Singing my Song

A bloke with a blog wrote a catalogue
of things in this world he hates
the comments flowed in the space below
and the hate began to escalate
i logged out as i began to doubt
the future of this race
picked up a pick and my guitar quick
and sang my song to make my case

and I sang
La la la la la la la la la la lala la

i read of folk who kill in far off hills
to defend liberty
wonder if you’re willing to do the killing
isĀ  your conscience ever free
of course we’ll all defend our selves our friends
when danger rears it’s head
but to retaliate more hate generates
better to treat the cause instead

so sing with me
La la la la la la la la la la lala la

I’m gonna carry on singing my song
while the world around burns with hate
as long as I’ve got a little love in my heart
it’s never gonna be too late
the mighty guns of freedom
are the beliefs that we hold strong
stand your ground with a smile not a frown
and carry on singing your song

My mate posted a link and said what do you think
sharing tabloid lies
I wrote I wrote a song I’d like you to sing along
before you decide whether to despise
it’s about love and hate and what each creates
and how you choose to respond
so come and have a beer differences disappear
on common ground we can sing as one

La la la la la la la la la la lala la

I’m gonna carry on singing my song
while the world around burns with hate
as long as I’ve got a little love in my heart
it’s never gonna be too late
the tanks and guns of freedom
are the beliefs that we hold strong
so don’t stand down stand you ground
and carry on singing your song
